Born in France, Bernie moved to Australia with his family at a young age, settling in Inala in Brisbane's western suburbs. He studied Business at the Queensland University of Technology.

Bernie has worked as an electrician, served in the Air Force, was a union organiser and opened a small business focussed on marketing and public relations.

He was inspired to enter parliament to address the unique challenges his community faced, and since being elected in 1998 he's been a passionate advocate for the local community.

“I believe the greatest help a government can give is to ensure people have a job. I am absolutely committed to making sure the western corridor continues to get the jobs we need to grow and prosper.”

Bernie is passionate about helping workers and small business to ensure we maintain a strong and stable economy and making sure our children have access to quality education.

He lives in Springfield Lakes with his wife and their three teenage children. Bernie is a passionate cyclist and is actively involved in local charity work.
