Candidate for Hasluck
Bill is a historian by profession. He has taught at schools and universities in both New South Wales and Western Australia. Born in Sydney, he studied at Macquarie University from which he holds a doctorate in History.
Bill is a past member of the History Council of WA, the Course Advisory Committee for the WA Curriculum Council for Ancient History (which he chaired for four years) and the examining panel for School Ancient History at the Fremantle Prison Management Advisory Group.
Bill holds both a Vice-Chancellor’s Award for teaching and a national award for teaching for his work in developing effective strategies in middle years' education.
Bill is also an active member of the Anglican Church. He serves as a member of the governing body of St George's Cathedral in Perth and as a member of the Perth Diocesan Council. He is a Cathedral Scholar at St George's Cathedral and an Adjunct Associate Professor in History at the University of Notre Dame. Bill has been a regular commentator on religious and social issues for the ABC Sunday Nights radio program.
Bill has a passion for education as the surest pathway to social mobility as well as an economically sustainable and diversified future.
Bill is married to Margo and has a daughter.
