Candidate for Durack
Carol’s working life has been dedicated to advocating for people in regional Western Australia. She was the Shire councillor for Derby for two years and then the Labor Member for Kimberley in the WA Parliament from 2001-2013.
Carol was the first Aboriginal woman to be elected to any Australian State or Territory Parliament and has a strong record of standing up for the community.
Carol has always worked hard for the people of Kimberley: working to achieve replacements or upgrades to every hospital in the Kimberley; the upgrading of critical infrastructure in the Kimberley region including roads and power supplies; building multifunction police facilities at Balgo, Bidyadanga, Dampier Peninsula, Kalumburu and Warmun; and continuing work on the Ord River Irrigation Scheme and associated native title issues.
Carol's local experience - as a social worker in local and State Government - will give her a strong voice for people in the Durack electorate.
