Pilot to increase cyber-safety in schools (News)
The Government is deeply concerned about the emergence of cyber-bullying in schools and the impact it is having on students, and will provide $3 million for a national pilot of a world-first cyber-safety initiative.

Two boarding schools in Queensland enrolling Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students have received a $1.9 million boost in infrastructure funding from the Australian Government.
The schools are Djarragun College in Gordonvale, which will receive just over $1 million, and Shalom Christian College in Condon, which will receive $920 000.
The Minister for Education, Julia Gillard, congratulated the two schools and commended them for their contributions to the educational welfare and achievements of their Indigenous students.
Parent School Quality Surveys added to My School (News)
The survey could canvass the ethos of the school and those issues that matter to parents and students such as the level of respect, quality of relationships, culture of the school and whether the school gives students a fair go.

The My School website provides more information about all of Australia’s nearly 10,000 schools than has ever been available to the parents before.
It provides a report card for each school with rich information about the number of students, the number of teachers, attendance rates, literacy and numeracy outcomes from NAPLAN and the background of students going to the school.

Universities will receive Rudd Government funding totalling $1.42 billion in 2010 for research that drives excellence and collaboration, and for the training of the next generation of Australian researchers.

Australian universities will receive federal funding for research and research training totalling $1.42 billion in 2010.
The funding, formally announced in Adelaide today by the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr, will be shared by 41 universities Australia-wide.
Included in the 2010 Research Block Grants are:
* $610 million for the Research Training Scheme, which meets the cost of tuition for students completing PhDs and Masters degrees by research;
