Ben Maxfield is the National President of Australian Young Labor.
He has been an active campaigner within the student union movement and the youth wing of
the Australian Labor Party.
Based in Melbourne he works for Victorian Senator David Feeney, Parliamentary Secretary
for Defence and before that as an official for the Shop Distributive & Allied Employees
Association (SDA).
In 2008 he was the National General Secretary of the National Union of Students, the peak
representative body for tertiary students in Australia.
As a student leader Ben has campaigned for improved funding in Australian Universities
after years of neglect by the Howard Government. As a unionist he has fought for a fair
industrial relations system that provides young people with the adequate pay and conditions
they deserve.
He has a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Economics from Monash University.
