Geoff Lyons has had an extensive career in Public and Health Administration and his experience has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by our health system and hospitals.
Community involvement has always been a priority for Geoff, particularly in relation to Aged Care, Surf Lifesaving, Netball and Aussie Rules football administration. Geoff is a Life Member of Surf Life Saving Tasmania, Surf Life Saving Australia and the North Launceston Football Club. He holds the Australian Governments Sports Medal and the Emergency Services Medal, and on Australian Day this year, was named Citizen of the Year in West Tamar.
Geoff has lived in Northern Tasmanian most of his life where he and his wife Sheryle have raised three daughters.

Name Derivation:
Named after Dr George Bass (1771-1803), a naval surgeon, early settler and explorer. Bass Strait is also named after him.
Area and Location Description:
Bass covers an area of approximately 7 378 sq km from Launceston in the south to Flinders Island in the north. The City of Launceston and its suburbs, and the towns of Bell Bay, Bridport, George Town, Hadspen, Lilydale, Legana (part), Ringarooma and Scottsdale, as well as Cape Barren Island, Clarke Island & Flinders Island are in this division.
