About John

John Dowling is the State Secretary of the Australian Labor Party, Tasmanian Branch.

John has been a member of the Australian Labor Party for over 20 years and has extensive campaigning experience. He has been involved in election campaigns at a local, state and national level as a party worker through to campaign manager.

John Dowling was Campaign Manager for the marginal seat of Braddon during the 2007 Federal election campaign.

Prior to the federal campaign, John Dowling has successfully managed three Tasmanian election campaigns under the Hare-Clarke system.

John Dowling has a particular interest in grass roots/community engagement election campaigning.

John was appointed ALP State Secretary, Tasmanian Branch in December 2007.

Prior to being appointed State Secretary, John was employed as an adviser in the Tasmanian Labor Government.

Before entering politics John Dowling was employed as a Fisheries Officer with NSW Fisheries and the Tasmanian Inland Fisheries Service.

Outside of politics his interests include touch football, fishing and watching sport.
