Kyam grew up in country South Australia, living in Mt Gambier and Littlehampton.
He completed Law and Economics degrees at Adelaide University and worked as a lawyer for the Crown Solicitors Office prior to becoming Chief of Staff for the late Terry Roberts, then SA Aboriginal Affairs Minister.
Growing up in a Labor family Kyam was occasionally dragged to country sub-branch meetings from a very early age, which now continues as Kyam occasionally drags his young family along to ALP events.
Kyam lives with his wife and three young boys in Adelaide’s southern beach suburbs.
Kyam Maher has been an enthusiastic Labor volunteer and supporter most of his life, and is proud to serve the ALP as the State Secretary in South Australia.
