About Sharryn

Sharryn grew up in rural Western Australia and spent her teenage years at the Swanleigh Boarding Hostel in Middle Swan.

After studying English at the University of Western Australia she joined the Miscellaneous Workers Union - working to improve the wages and conditions of working people.

As a local resident and active community member, Sharryn was privileged to serve as the first Federal Member for Hasluck. Sharryn fought hard for better local services including affordable GP visits and more support for working families. Sharryn is passionate about securing opportunities for the next generation and is focussed on education and training and tackling climate change.

Most recently, Sharryn worked for the State Government as a Ministerial Chief of Staff and as Director of the Community Cabinet Liaison Unit.

Sharryn lives in the Hasluck electorate with her partner John.

Name Derivation:

Named after Sir Paul Hasluck 1905-93, Diplomat, Cabinet Minister and the first Western Australian born Governor-General of Australia and his wife Dame Alexandra Hasluck 1908-93, a noted author.

Area and Location Description:

Hasluck covers an area of approximately 245 sq km from West Swan in the north to Southern River in the south. It is bordered by the foothills of the Darling Range to the east and the Midland to Kwinana freight rail line to the west. The division includes the majority of the City of Gosnells, the western portion of the Shire of Kalamunda and parts of the Shire of Mundaring and the City of Swan. It includes the suburbs of Gosnells, Guildford, Kalamunda (part), Maddington, Midland and Thornlie.

Mainly retail, transport and service industries with some light industry, market gardens and vineyards.
