Finally the truth - Workchoices via the backdoor

It took the entire election campaign, but Tony Abbott’s secret plans to bring back WorkChoices have finally been exposed.

In response to a direct question earlier today, Tony Abbott refused to rule out the use of regulations to make changes to workplace relations by stealth.

Tony Abbott is committed to bringing back WorkChoices via the backdoor.

Tony Abbott is deceiving the Australian people. He knows that he can keep claiming he will not change the legislation for three years because he is going to exploit existing regulations.

Until today, Tony Abbott has managed to avoid telling Australians the truth about his ability to bring back Workchoices by changing regulations – changes that workplace relations experts have warned about.

University of Adelaide law professor, Andrew Stewart, said this week that the Coalition could "comfortably make radical change" to industrial relations legislation without changing the laws (The Australian, 16 August, page 5).

The president of the HR Nicholls Society, Adam Bisits, said last week that you "can do a lot by varying regulations" (The Age, August 13, page 4). Mr Bistis also nominated unfair dismissal, workplace flexibility and rules around minimum hours as areas that could be overhauled by regulation.

This is Mr Abbott’s backdoor route to WorkChoices.

He had no choice other than to duck and weave today when confronted with the truth.

    The truth is finally out.

A vote for Tony Abbott is a vote for WorkChoices.

Don’t risk your family’s future with Tony Abbott.
