    Jobs Expo finds jobs for 100

    More than one hundred people were connected with job opportunities, apprenticeships and training at last week’s Gympie Keep Australia Working Jobs and Skills Expo held at the Pavilion, Gympie Showgrounds.

    Minister for Employment Participation and Child Care Kate Ellis, said that Wednesday’s Gympie Jobs and Skills Expo was a great success.

    ‘Since October 2009, 37 Jobs and Skills Expos have been held across the country,’ Ms Ellis said.

    ‘The 1180 people who attended the expo in Gympie were able to take advantage of the 300 job opportunities available on the day, submitting 680 resumes to the 63 different exhibitors.’

    Minister for Human Services, Tanya Plibersek praised local job seekers, training providers and businesses who worked together at the event to make it such a success.

    ‘Wednesday’s Jobs and Skills Expo was a great boost for the Southern Wide Bay-Burnett region,’ Ms Plibersek said.

    ‘The expos form part of the Government’s Keep Australia Working strategy, with more than $337 million allocated to fund over 1392 projects in the Southern Wide Bay-Burnett region under the Nation Building Plan.’
