Attorney-General, Robert McClelland, today launched the new Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) website and recruitment campaign for new Intelligence Officers.
ASIO is Australia's security intelligence service whose main role is to gather information and produce intelligence in order to protect Australia's national security.
Since 2003, ASIO has doubled in size to meet the challenges of today’s security environment.
“Critical to this growth has been the ability to attract the right people with the right skills. Last year, for example, ASIO experienced a near 30 per cent increase in the number of employment applications,” Mr McClelland said.
The new website and recruitment campaign will support this growth and aims to further attract a range of high quality candidates to the organisation.
“The new website has a fresh, modern look and for the first time, includes video clips which provide a greater level of insight into the work of ASIO than ever before.”
“With further material to be added to the site over the coming months, the website represents an invaluable resource for those who aspire to contribute to the important work of ASIO.”
Applications for Intelligence Officer positions open on 19 March 2010.
“Intelligence Officers are responsible for the collection and analysis of security intelligence through both overt and covert methods and represent a crucial part ASIO's intelligence collection capability. As such, the selection process for Intelligence Officers is demanding, and competition is intense.”
