The concerns and issues of local veterans from the Surf Coast have been aired with Federal Labor at a Veterans’ Forum conducted at the Ocean Grove RSL today.
The forum was attended by Minister for Veterans Affairs and Defence Personnel, Alan Griffin, and Labor Member for Corangamite, Darren Cheeseman.
“Veterans’ Forums are a great opportunity for us to hear the concerns and suggestions of the veteran community, as well as giving us a chance to ensure that veterans are fully aware of the support services that are available to them” Alan Griffin said.
“These types of community forums are a great way of keeping in touch with our veterans. I will continue to work hard with our veteran groups to ensure they are well supported,” Darren Cheeseman said.
The forum covered a wide range of subjects raised by the district’s veterans. It gave the Minister a chance to directly respond to their questions and outline the measures that the Gillard Labor Government has introduced, which are of benefit to them.
