Candidate for Capricornia
Leisa grew up in Rockhampton and attended local public schools. She is passionate about the central Queensland region. She is the former principal of Frenchville State School, a large Rockhampton primary school with 1,000 students.
Leisa went on to study at Central Queensland University, attaining a Diploma of Teaching, Bachelor of Education and a Masters in School Management. Leisa has been a teacher and principal of schools within the Capricornia electorate. Leisa has been married for 25 years and has one daughter who attends a local high school. Leisa and her family enjoy fishing in the waters off the Capricorn Coast, camping and outdoor pursuits like bush walking.
Leisa is standing for Capricornia because she believes in the power of politics to create positive change. She is keen to see Capricornia’s rich natural resources and educational precincts used to their full extent to create future jobs, economic stability and strong confidence levels for businesses and families. Leisa believes that schools should be well-funded to give every child the chance to achieve their potential.
Leisa believes in a universal, world class health sector. She supports investments in rural and regional Queensland to promote the future prosperity of all the towns and their people.
Leisa is committed to fairness and this includes looking after people who most need our help. She is a firm advocate for fair working conditions and a decent living wage for all Australians.
