Candidate for Dickson
Linda will be a familiar name and face to many local residents. She was the local State Member of Parliament for 12 years, and Queensland’s first female Attorney-General and Minister for Justice. A descendant of Samford’s pioneering Morrison family, Linda grew up in Lawnton, currently lives in Joyner, and has lived locally for most of her life.
The Whitlam Government education reforms gave thousands of working-class boys and girls the opportunity to attend university, and Linda was among them. After graduating in Law Linda practised locally in Strathpine, Caboolture and Redcliffe and volunteered her time as a solicitor with the Petrie Community Legal Centre (now the Pine Rivers Community Legal Service). Linda was elected as the State Member for Kurwongbah in 1997.
Linda is currently Deputy Chair and a Director of the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation and since leaving State Parliament in 2009 has held a number of board positions including being a director of Hockey Queensland.
Linda is proud and honoured to have represented her local community at the State level. Now, she looks forward to using her wealth of knowledge and experience to advance the educational, social and economic opportunities for the people of Dickson at the Federal level.
