Matt was born and grew up in the new electorate of Burt.  He is a lawyer.

Whilst at university Matt’s first job was working part-time in the local law firm of Travers & Keogh, where he then first practised as a lawyer. Matt then went on to prosecute white collar crime, working for the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.

As President of the Law Society Matt has mentored junior lawyers, students and young community leaders across WA. In 2009, Matt was named the Law Council of Australia's Australian Young Lawyer of the Year.

Matt met his wife Annabel while studying. In his spare time Matt works with domestic violence refuges through Starick Services, church groups, and StreetLaw who help people who are homeless.

Matt’s mum is a teacher and his dad works in a hospital. Matt believes in fair and accessible education for our kids as well as investing in new industries, innovation and new jobs. He knows we need to support families to make sure no one gets left behind.

Matt will put the people of Burt first.
