Media Statement - 17th November 2007
Federal Shadow Treasurer Wayne Swan, who is visiting Darwin today, said Country Liberal Party MP, David Tollner, has given the "green light" to Darwin and Palmerston families to vote for Federal Labor's Damian Hale.
The Northern Territory News reported this morning that David Tollner, Member for Solomon has refused to rule out a switch to Northern Territory politics, if he loses the election on November 24.
The Howard Government has no plans for the Northern Territory. The only plans being discussed are Mr Tollner’s retirement plans. Mr Tollner has admitted that he is no longer able to deliver for Darwin and Palmerston families.
In today's Northern Territory News, in an article entitled 'MP set to switch if he loses Solomon election' Mr Tollner refused to deny the plans to run in the Northern Territory elections in 2009.
When asked by the NT News, Mr Tollner said:
"You're not going to draw me out on that.” (NT News, page 4- Article attached)
