Biography

Catryna Bilyk was born in Hobart and has lived in Tasmania most of her life. Catryna chose to move back to Tasmania (25 years ago) because she believes it is a fantastic place to bring up a family, work and eventually retire. She is married and has two adult children.

After initial employment in the 1970s in the Administrative/Research area, Catryna moved into child-care where she worked for over a decade. She then joined the Australian Services Union, Tasmania Branch, as an Industrial Officer and later became the Branch Training Officer. She was responsible for setting up the first Union Jobskills Program. She represented the Union on many Industry Training Boards and held the position of Senior Vice President of Unions Tas. She is currently employed as Adviser/Electoral Officer in the Tasmanian State Government.

Catryna has been active in a variety of ALP roles at Branch, State and Federal levels, including Branch Secretary, State Administrative Committee Member, Policy Committee Member (State and Federal), Labor Women’s Network Convenor for Tasmania, ALP National Executive Member and ALP National Vice President.
