Biography
Julia was born and raised in western Sydney attending Cerdon College at Merrylands. She left school at 16 to work in a bank, and has worked for a number of trade unions since the early 1970's.
After a break from full-time work to care for her family, Julia returned to work as an electorate officer for the then Federal Minister for Schools, Vocational Education and Training, Ross Free and the Member for Fowler, Ted Grace. Julia was elected as the Member for Fowler in October 1998 and was returned in the 2001, 2004 and 2007 elections. Reflecting her special interests, Julia currently serves on two parliamentary committees, Family and Human Services, of which she is deputy chair, and Migration.
Julia and her husband Geoff have two adult children and live at Bonnyrigg Heights.

Name Derivation: Named after Lilian Fowler 1887-1954, first woman alderman in New South Wales 1929-48 and first woman mayor in Australia 1938-39, Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly 1944-50.
Area and Location Description: Fowler covers an area of approximately 247sq km extending from Canley Heights and Cabramatta West in the east to Silverdale and Warragamba in the west. Bounded in the southeast by Maxwells Creek, the southern boundary extends west along Hoxton Park Road, the Sydney Water Supply Channel, Bringelly Road, Greendale Road, Bringelly Creek, Nepean River, Bushrangers Creek, Taylors Road, Eltons Road and Werriberri Creek to Warragamba Dam. The northern boundary extends east following Warragamba River, the Sydney Water Supply Pipeline, Littlefields Road, Elizabeth Drive, Sydney Water Supply Channel, Prairie Vale Road and Orphan School Creek.
