Biography

Brought up in Bathurst, Craig moved to Sydney to go to University (UNSW). Craig has a both a commerce degree and a law degree.

Craig has represented health workers, ambulance officers and aged care workers since 1988 when he commenced working with the Health Services Union. He has held various positions with that union including Assistant Secretary of the NSW Branch and has since 2002 been the National Secretary of the union.

Craig has always been heavily involved in his local community. He is an active lifesaver and regularly does meals on wheels. He has headed a local community group known as "Coastal Voice" as President and spokesperson for the last two years. Coastal Voice has held community forums on many issues including the Aged, Youth and Industrial Relations.

Craig has been involved in many community events including "Kids day Out" held at Ourimbah each year.

Craig was elected as Member for Dobell at the 2007 federal election.

Area and Location Description: Dobell covers an area of approximately 886 sq km, which includes areas of Wyong Shire, Hawkesbury Shire and Gosford City Council. Towns include Bateau Bay, Berkeley Vale, Blue Haven, Matcham, Mount Elliot, Ourimbah, The Entrance, Warnervale, Wyoming, Wyong, the Yarramalong Valley and parts of Erina Heights, Gorokan, Holgate, Lisarow, Narara, Niagara Park and Wamberal.

Products/Industries of the Area: Fruit, vegetables, manufacturing industries, prawning, fishing, tourism and mixed farming.
