Biography

Shayne Neumann was born and raised in Ipswich and lives at Flinders View with his wife Carolyn, and their daughters Alex and Jacqui.

Shayne is involved with many groups within the Blair community. As a current West Moreton District Health Councillor, he has a keen interest in health policy and has chaired Health Reference groups in Ipswich and surrounding country areas.

He also serves on the Board of Queensland Baptist Care, which oversees aged care homes and facilities in Ipswich and Laidley as well as counselling, community and disability services in Ipswich and rural areas of Blair.

Shayne commenced his working life at the Dinmore meatworks. He completed his education at the University of Queensland with a Law Degree and an Arts Degree majoring in government and economics.

Today, Shayne is a Partner in a successful law firm and continues to help people in Blair everyday find solutions to their legal problems.

Shayne has a deep commitment and understanding of health and infrastructure issues. He is committed to an industrial relations system that gives working families in Blair fair workplaces.

Name Derivation: Named after Harold Blair AO 1924-76. A noted Australian tenor and Aboriginal activist.

Area and Location Description: Blair covers an area of approximately 5305 sq km west of Brisbane. Containing most of the City of Ipswich and Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Scenic Rim Regional Council and Ipswich City Council, the division stretches from Riverview and Redbank Plains in the east to Withcott in the west, and from Churchable in the north to the New South Wales border in the south. Main towns include Boonah, Gatton, Grantham, Harrisville, Helidon, Ipswich, Kalbar, Laidley, Marburg, Rosewood, Walloon, Warrill View and Withcott.

Products/Industries of the Area: Bean and grain crops, vegetables, lucerne, sunflower and dairy farming. A campus of the University of Queensland is situated near Gatton.
