Senator for New South Wales
Born in the Iranian fishing village of Sari to an Azeri father and Iranian mother, Sam arrived in Australia aged five years. His parents were student activists in the 1979 Iranian revolution.
He has worked with Hawker Britton and has also served as as General Secretary of New South Wales Labor. He is a strong advocate for Labor values and joined the party when he was only 16 years old.
On 21 August 2013, Sam was appointed to the Senate and is passionate about representing New South Wales. He lives in Sydney's inner west with his wife and two daughters.
