Sharon and her family have lived in Wollongong for five generations. Sharon was elected to parliament in 2004 and was recently appointed as the Minister for Higher Education and Skills.
As a former high school and TAFE teacher and worker with the NSW Department of Juvenile Justice, Sharon is a tireless advocate for education and youth issues.
"TAFEs are on the frontline when it comes to giving people in NSW the skills they need to get a job and are essential in delivering training for students in our regions and for disadvantaged students."
Sharon opposes the NSW Coalition's cuts to TAFE. Sharon works closely with local community groups, unions and businesses to ensure the area she represents gets the funding for the services they need.
