A proud advocate of key Labor priorities such as providing greater access to quality services for regional Australia, job growth and creation, and of course making sure every Australian child has access to quality education. Sid was first elected to parliament in 1998 and again in 2007. In 2011 he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.“There is a positive trend returning to politics; people vote for candidates who have been part of their communities, who have strong grassroots affiliations with them, who are about face-to-face contact with their constituents and who are prepared to stand up for them. That is the traditional Labor way.”
Sid lives in the village of Forth in northern Tasmania with his wife Bronwyn, and their two sons, William and Julian. Sid is a musical theatre buff and loves his sport, following Hawthorn in the AFL and having a decades-long association with the Ulverstone Basketball Association.
