Senator for Northern Territory
Trish Crossin has lived in the Northern Territory for more than 30 years and was elected to the Senate in 1998.
She is the first woman from the NT to be elected to the Federal Parliament and is now the longest serving senator representing the Territory.
Trish is currently the Chair of the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee and the Joint
Select Committee on Constitutional Recognition of ATSI Peoples.
Trish has a Bachelor of Education, with expertise in early childhood education and has taught in Melbourne, North-East Arnhem and Darwin and prior to entering the Senate, worked as an Industrial Officer with two education unions, the National Tertiary Education Union and the Australian Education Union.
Trish has a keen interest in indigenous and higher education, empowering women and providing equal and fair opportunities for all members of the society.
Trish is patron of the NT Netball Association, committee member of the Asthma Foundation NT and is a proud life member of the NT Working Women’s Centre, which she established.
