Proud of our Country and our people

Julia Gillard posted Thursday, 26 January 2012

I'm celebrating Australia Day by presenting new Australians their certificates at a Citizenship Ceremony. I'll also be awarding the first National Emergency Medals to Australians who have inspired us with their courage during the Victorian Bushfires, Queensland Floods and Cyclone Yasi.

I'll be spending the day talking about the things Australians can be proud of - what we can achieve together and in individual acts of bravery. Ours is a great country and we can all take pride in our history - and believe in our future.

But Australia Day is also a day for fun and for families. However you're celebrating, I hope you enjoy it.

    Happy Australia Day.

    Julia

Gloria I can presume then that you consider that inventors are not entitled to a say in the patent system?
    Only the patent attorney industry?

Abbott continues to spread hate, which creates division and argument, now it is has turned to violence. He thinks he can motor mouth, then cries for the security, he should have the courage of his convictions and tell the Aborigines to their face.

Julia I don't want to embarrass you by releasing the emails last year which you ignored when you realized what they were about - but my question is 'when will inventors get a say in the patent system?'

I thought the referendum had little chance on the Aboriginal question, because Australians are racists, at least a big enough number to soundly defeat the proposal. However the activities of the tent embassy aboriginals on Australia day have buried it

Batman & numero uno: You suffer premature speculation re the scenes in Canberra on Australia day.

A developing story on both sides and who said what, when.

The commentary a perfect example of a predisposition for name calling.

    It gnaws on m

Her Staff member didn't put inflamatory words in Abbott's mouth. The little howardesque hamster that lives in his hollowed-out skull pulling on the little levers and nudging up the jerk levels, nawing on what's left of his rotten brain did that.

Then the children decide in their great wisdom to change their mind and give it back to the poor woman. What's the saying 'Children should be seen and not heard! A very old term but one that is very applicable here! I sincerely hope that PM is OK!!!!

Then we have all the children from the tent, go and bang on windows, like children would do to get attention! Then after getting away with breaking the law, The children then STEAL the Prime Ministers shoe to sell it on ebay!LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL.

But there again, the stupid man in question needs to be punished like a child because he is one! Furthermore, one child contacts another child(barbara shaw), then that child contacts the other children at their embassy tent. This is called pre-school!

Very appalled to see the scenes on Australia Day! The Prime Minister, whether you agree with her or not, should never be put into a situation like that! Extremely dissapointed that it was her own staff member trying to set up Tony Abbott!

...the connatations of frankly misticism-style thinking that we should be the subjects of a divinely chosen foreign bloodline.
I don't think Britain should have a monarchy either, let alone Australia. Not at least in the traditional sense

  • Douglas from Blaxland , NSW Friday, 27 January 2012, 16:27

In any case, I find it absurd that on the one hand we want to be a proud and independent nation, with all the sense of agency and self-determination that goes with that, while still wanting to cling to a foreign monarchy which has all the...

    Absolutely GNCORP!

If we do feel we want a monarchy why not have one but make sure that they are Australian and are either elected or appointed for a term by someone who IS democratically elected. Why not King Geoffrey (Rush) or Queen Edna?
