Jason Clare posted Thursday, 26 January 2012

Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Justice Jason Clare congratulated two Australian Federal Police officers who were today awarded the Australian Police Medal.

Assistant Commissioner Ramzi Jabbour and Superintendent John Lines were awarded the Medal as part of today’s Australia Day Honours.

Mr Clare said that the Australian Police Medals were awarded to outstanding members of an Australian police service.

“It’s a great day for these two officers, their families and their fellow officers in the AFP,” Mr Clare said.

“Assistant Commissioner Jabbour and Superintendent Lines have served the community with distinction.”

Assistant Commissioner Jabbour has been a member of the AFP for the past 22 years in several roles including National Co-ordinator of Counter Terrorism and was promoted to Assistant Commissioner in 2010.

Superintendent Lines has been a police officer with the ACT Police and the AFP for 34 years in several roles including responsibility for the Multi-National Crime Investigation Unit and coordination of the investigations into serious crime committed in Dili in the aftermath of unrest in East Timor in 2006.

Mr Clare also congratulated the 36 AFP members who received Australia Day Achievement Medallions for their contributions to law enforcement.

“They are shining examples of police all over the country who have dedicated their careers to keeping our community safe,” Mr Clare said.

“This is a fitting acknowledgement of their work and I congratulate them on this important recognition.”
