    NSW RDA Chair Receives Australia Day Award

    Regional Australia Minister Simon Crean today congratulated Rob Pollock, Chair of the Far South Coast Regional Development Australia (RDA) committee in NSW on his Australia Day award.

    Mr Pollock was acknowledged in the 2012 Australia Day Honours List with an OAM for his services to tourism and the South Coast community.

    “This is a remarkable achievement for Rob which recognises his 25 years of contribution to the development of the South Coast Community,” Mr Crean said.

    “It also recognises the hard work of not only the RDA Far South Coast, but the other 54 RDAs across Australia.

    “Recognition on Australia Day is a rare honour, so Rob can be incredibly proud of his achievements.

    “Rob’s knowledge of tourism, combined with his work in local government and as a successful restaurateur, have made him a leader in his community.

    “Rob is passionate about the NSW South Coast is known for his practical approach to achieving change by working at a grass-roots level.”

    Mr Pollock was elected to local government in 1987 and was a successful restaurateur in Bodalla and Batemans Bay for 20 years between 1983 and 2003.

    He is currently Chair of the New South Wales South Coast Regional Tourism Organisation and Director of the New South Wales Tourism Industry Council.

    Past appointments include:
    •    Elected Chair, New South Wales South East Regional Economic Development Board in 1991;
    •    Member of the Australian Capital Region Development Board; and
    •   Councillor on Eurobodalla Shire Council since 1987.
