Key Responsibilities

Continuous campaigning

  • Develop template digital campaigns in ALP target seats that can assist in delivery of above.
  • Lead the development and delivery of campaign preparedness audits in target seats.

Training

  • Work with the National Organiser responsible for Labor’s training program to assist in the development and delivery of campaign training that is consistent with the National Training Manual.

Campaign Organising

  • Provide the primary point of contact at the Secretariat for ALP candidates and campaign teams in a cluster of target seats. A National Organiser may have responsibility for electorates across multiple states.
  • Work with ALP State Branches and local campaign teams to develop and execute campaign plans in those target seats.
  • Work with State Branches to develop and monitor targets and metrics for campaign activity, volunteer recruitment and voter contact in each target seat, and ensure that local campaign teams are meeting these goals.
  • Work closely with the ALP National Secretariat Digital Team to identify potential volunteers amongst our online supporters and connect them with local campaigns.

Essential skills

  • Previous experience working in an organising or training role at a union or ALP state branch.
  • A strong understanding of organising and campaign strategies and techniques.
  • Previous experience working on State and Federal election campaigns.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate and work with a wide range of personalities.
  • Commitment to the values of the ALP and the labour movement.
  • Capacity to exercise judgement, discretion and initiative within a politically sensitive environment.
  • Capacity to work to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work without close direction and supervision.
  • Strong IT literacy and an understanding of digital campaigning.
