As a hard-working Chief Operating Officer for Australia’s largest community health organisation Donisha knows what it takes to get things done. She has a background in health policy, planning and management and serves as a Board member with state and federal appointments.
Donisha is a proud First Nations woman born on Thursday Island, Torres Strait, where her extended family instilled in her the value of family and sense of community that changes the lives of all for the better.
Donisha is a Founding member and Chair of the Stars Foundation Ltd, a highly successful organisation providing a tailored approach to support one of the most at-risk groups in Australia – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women. The organisation creates positive and lasting outcomes for the young women and their families.
Donisha’s ties to the Federal Electorate of Bowman are strong. Her family has lived in the local community for over 30 years. She has chosen Bowman as the place to raise her son.
Donisha knows the value of a good education, persistence and hard work. She was the 2nd person in her family to graduate from university and the first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person to graduate with an Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Australian National University (ANU).
Donisha has worked in the private and public sectors. She was an Advisor to both the Rudd and Gillard Governments. Donisha knows first-hand how ruthless politics can be however she also understands how good governance can create long lasting beneficial outcomes for all.
Donisha knows she has the strength and determination needed to stand up and fight for Bowman.
