Edwina Andrew is a long-term resident of Townsville since 1985, raising her children and grandchildren here, and has lived and worked all over regional and remote Queensland for over 45 years.
Edwina is currently developing and leading prevention and response services working with people involved in the youth justice system; with men who use violence against intimate partners, and services to build strong families.
Edwina grew up in a rural household familiar with disadvantage, she knows what it is like to be doing it tough. Throughout her career in community services, she has continued to walk alongside and support people experiencing isolation and disconnection.
That’s why she’s running as part of Anthony Albanese’s team. She knows that only Labor is delivering cost of living relief for working people and regional communities.
From Labor’s tax cut for every Australian taxpayer, to cheaper medicines, to the energy rebate and increases in bulk billing, Edwina knows how important these measures are for people locally.
She knows only Labor has a plan to deliver good jobs in regional communities through the Future Made in Australia plan.
Through a record investment in Australian manufacturing, Labor will deliver good, secure jobs for local workers in regional communities. And through investing in fee-free TAFE, Labor will help locals develop the skills to be ready for those jobs.
Herbert needs a representative with Edwina’s experience and commitment to delivering for our community, and someone part of a government that will always put the interests of working families first.
