Jo started working at age 16 as a kitchen-hand. She continued to work in hospitality, including whilst studying at university. As a person who grew up in a working-class family, she knew the importance of unions to working people, and was a union member and delegate at her workplace.
Jo’s desire to become more involved with the union movement drove her to take up an organising role at a union in 2004. Her ambition remains to make life better and fairer for all working people right across our economy. With the cost of living rising out of control and wages going down in real terms, Jo knows we need a Federal Government and a Senate who will stand up for fair pay and better conditions for working Australians.
