Russell Robertson, Labor’s candidate for Capricornia, is a third generation miner and father of three. Russell was born in Clermont and grew up in Moranbah, where he attended the same local school that he now sends his children to. After leaving Moranbah to find a job, he returned in 2000 with his wife Denise and enjoys the strong sense of community in the area. He’s the Chairman of the Moranbah Community Scholarship Board, which supports and funds local kids to attend University.
Russell has worked at the nearby Goonyella mine for the past seventeen years, where he operates heavy mining vehicles. Russell has first-hand experience of the effects of successive LNP Governments destroying jobs and ignoring the infrastructure needs of Central Queensland.
