Senator for Queensland

Assistant Minister for Resources
Assistant Minister for Regional Development
Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

Anthony Chisholm was elected to Federal Parliament as Senator for Queensland in 2016.

Anthony grew up in Brisbane’s northern suburbs and is a proud Brisbane Broncos supporter.

He was educated at Wavell State High School and attended Griffith University for his university study, earning a Bachelor of Arts majoring in politics and international relations.

He served as Queensland Labor State Secretary between 2008 and 2014 before taking on the role of Campaign Director for the 2015 Queensland State Election, which saw the Palaszczuk Government sweep to power on a 10.81% swing.

During university and across his working life, Anthony has maintained strong connections to his local communities through his work with charities and community groups across Brisbane’s northside.

In June 2022, Anthony was appointed as Assistant Minister for Education and Assistant Minister for Regional Development in the first Albanese Ministry. In 2024, he was also appointed Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Following Labor’s historic re-election in 2025, Anthony was appointed Assistant Minister for Resources, Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, as well as Deputy Leader of Government Business in the Senate.

In a decentralised state like Queensland, Anthony is passionate about ensuring that affordable healthcare, quality education and greater opportunities are available to all Queenslanders, no matter where they live.

As the new Assistant Minister for Resources, Anthony is committed to supporting a productive mining and resources sector across all of Queensland and is determined to unlock longer-term strategic and economic opportunities, to ensure the resources sector continues to deliver for the regions.

Across his three portfolios, he maintains a strong commitment to standing up for regional Queenslanders and will always ensure they have a seat at the table when it comes to government decision-making.

Anthony lives in Brisbane with his wife Stella and their three children.
