Carol lives in Hobart with her partner and her two young children. She enjoys spending time on Bruny Island with her family, playing tennis and reading.
Carol has been a lifelong advocate for a fair go for all in the community.
Her involvement with the Labor movement began at an early age when she joined the party at the age of 20 determined to fight for the core values of greater equality in the distribution of wealth and opportunity, equal access to employment, education, health and other community services.
Carol is passionate about empowering women, improving the way we care for older Australians and providing equal opportunities for all in our community regardless of their background.
Carol works hard to ensure people living with disability and their carers are supported. She is a strong advocate for the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and other initiatives which foster a more inclusive society.
Carol also supports Australia's role in fulfilling the Millennium Development Goals, including the increasing overseas development assistance to 0.5% of GNI by 2015. She is passionate about Australia's Aid involvement in our region and beyond, particularly those initiatives which empower women and address gender inequality in developing communities.
