Josh Wilson is a long-time Fremantle local with a strong record of public service and leadership in local government. Josh grew up in this community and he is raising his family in Freo. He has dedicated his personal and professional life over the last 12 years to public and community service in the electorate.

Josh has a proven capacity to work hard and successfully for people and community groups across the breadth of the Fremantle electorate, from North Fremantle to Hammond Park, from Jandakot to Coogee.

Josh has been a Councillor at the City of Fremantle since 2009, and Deputy Mayor since 2011. He is well known and respected for his leadership within community-driven campaigns, including the ‘Fremantle Forever’ victory forced Council amalgamations, the fight against Roe 8 and the Perth Freight Link, the return of Cantonment Hill for public use, the protection of local beaches, and the fight to stop the privatisation of Fremantle Port.

He is also recognised for his role in leading the City’s economic development strategy and for championing community revitalisation projects in parts of the City facing economic disadvantage, like Hilton and Beaconsfield.

In his work with previous federal members, Carmen Lawrence and Melissa Parke, Josh helped deliver dozens of community projects like the new Cockburn Super GP Clinic, the Jandakot Fire & Emergency Services HQ, and the Coogee Surf Lifesaving Club.

Josh understands the issues facing Fremantle and will be dedicated to ensuring that Fremantle continues to have a strong voice in Canberra and an energetic, effective local member.
