Member for Bendigo
Shadow Assistant Minister for Workplace Relations
Shadow Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Australia
Lisa Chesters MP is the Federal Member for Bendigo. She was first elected in 2013.
Lisa grew up in regional Queensland, the eldest of three girls. In her teenage years she joined her local Landcare group and developed a passion for making a difference.
Lisa moved to central Victoria after completing her Bachelor of Arts in psychology and politics at the University of Queensland to take up a role as a union representative at United Voice.
Workers’ rights are a particular interest of hers, and she continues to be a strong advocate for workers at Parliament. Lisa has also been particularly vocal in the community and at Parliament on Labor issues including education reform, health, community equality and inclusion.
Lisa was appointed Shadow Assistant Minister for Workplace Relations and Shadow Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Australia following the 2016 election. She looks forward to working with the Shadow Ministers to build on the body of work in these critical public policy areas.
The Labor value of a fair go for all guides her in her role as MP.
