Minister for Mental Health and Ageing
Minister for Social Inclusion
Minister for Housing and Homelessness
Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on Mental Health Reform

Before he was elected to parliament in 2007, Mark played a significant role in South Australia working for the interests of some of the most disadvantaged people in our community as an official with United Voice for over 15 years.

Mark has long been a champion for society’s most vulnerable, and was a member of the South Australian Social Inclusion Board during its major review of the South Australian mental health system.

This has continued in his work as the minister responsible for social inclusion, ageing, housing, homelessness and as Australia's first minister for mental health.

Mark is proud of his role delivering Labor's mental health reform package as well as the aged care reform plan, Living Longer Living Better.

Mark lives in Woodville Park with his wife and two children. He holds a First Class Honours Law degree, an Arts degree and a Masters degree in International Relations. In 2002 he was awarded a Centenary Medal for services to trade unionism, and he’s a strong supporter of his local AFL team, Port Adelaide Power.
