Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney-General
Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing

Shayne was born and raised in Ipswich, and he has lived locally all of his life.

Shayne understands the importance of quality health services for local families. Before entering parliament he worked with the West Moreton District Health Council to improve the provision of health services in the local community.

He served on the Board of Queensland Baptist Care, which was responsible for aged care homes and facilities in Ipswich and surrounding areas as well as counselling, community and disability services in Ipswich and rural areas of Blair.

"I believe in social justice and equality of opportunity for all. I believe that how we treat the poor, the aged, the weak and the disadvantaged says much about us as a nation. I believe the Australian experience shows economic development and social progress come not just from individual liberty but by active participation of government also."

Shayne commenced his working life at the Dinmore meatworks. He completed his education at the University of Queensland with Law and Arts Degrees majoring in government and economics.

A former partner in a successful law firm, Shayne understands how decisions made in Canberra can affect peoples' lives and is committed to giving working Australians and those disadvantaged in our society a fair go.

Shayne lives with his wife Carolyn and two daughters Alex and Jacqui in Ipswich.
