Member for Chisholm

Carina has the experience, passion and intellect that give the residents of Chisholm the strong local voice they deserve.

Carina is a local who loves her community. She grew up in the multicultural south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne where she still lives; her father a doctor and her mother originally a nurse.

With Italian heritage, Carina understands the opportunity Australia has offered migrants who want to build secure lives for themselves and their families.

Carina understands the transformative power of Labor Governments. Under the Whitlam Government, her grandfather trained as a teacher at Burwood Teachers College, before going on to become a senior teacher at Emmaus College. This laid a path for future generations to pursue the lives they chose.

Carina was educated at Monash University, graduated with an Honours degree in English Literature before winning a scholarship to undertake a PhD at the University of Sydney, where she worked as an academic.

Carina has dedicated her professional life to advocating to make the working lives of Victorians better, safer, and more secure. She has seen first-hand the impact that flat wages and insecure work has on families, as well as on the local economy, and has led the fight to secure better jobs for our community.

Carina wants to see a stronger, fairer future where there are secure jobs you can raise families on, more affordable childcare, protecting Medicare and keeping our healthcare system strong, and more investment in renewables.
