Senator for South Australia

Charlotte Walker was born and raised in Yankalilla, South Australia, a small country town on the coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula.

From weekend netball games playing for Yankalilla Netball Club, to her first job at the local supermarket, Charlotte has a deep connection to the people and places that make our regions so special and a keen interest to represent those living in regional communities.

After the completion of her high school studies, Charlotte commenced as an electorate officer for her State Member of Parliament – the beginning of Charlotte's political career.

In 2024, Charlotte began working as an engagement officer for Australian Services Union. Working in the union gave her a real understanding of worker's rights and has guided her passion to advocate for those in the community. In the same year, Charlotte was elected Young Labor President.

On the night of the 2025 election, Charlotte turned 21 years old. Charlotte is the youngest senator to be elected in Australian history.

Charlotte provides a perspective of young people today and is passionate about ensuring young people's voices are heard within the Australian parliament.

Charlotte now lives in Adelaide with her partner Matt, and in her free time she can be found enjoying netball and pilates, building Lego and playing Minecraft.
