Kristy McBain is Labor’s candidate for Eden-Monaro. Kristy lives in Tura Beach with her husband Brad, their three children and their beloved border collie.
The last six months have been a tough time for Eden-Monaro. The experience of the devastating bushfires and now the coronavirus pandemic has made Kristy more determined than ever to stand up for her community.
Kristy’s family moved to the Bega Valley in the 90s and ran a small sporting store in Merimbula for over a decade. She grew up on the Far South Coast and attended Eden Marine High School, where she met her husband. They still count their high school mates as some of their best friends. Kristy’s love for this part of the world is the reason she moved back after studying at the University of Canberra.
Kristy and Brad run a small plumbing business. Local businesses are under pressure and Kristy knows how important it is to have real job opportunities for the community. As the first person in her family to go to university, Kristy also wants to make sure all children get the education they deserve.
Eden-Monaro needs a strong local voice that will make sure they're not forgotten. Kristy will be that voice.
