The greatest resource Australia has is our people.
A strong public TAFE sector used to produce high quality Australian jobs for communities across the country.
Unfortunately, a decade of cuts by the Liberals contributed to the skills shortages that we’re experiencing today. From carers and cooks to electricians and early childhood educators.
That’s why the Albanese Labor government is making the biggest investment into the TAFE sector in decades.
It includes 480,000 fee-free TAFE and training places to skill up more Australians for better paying jobs. We’re also investing $12.6 billion to expand and transform access to the VET sector, support quality training and implement reforms to address critical skills needs.
Whether it’s a need to build our care sector, construction, hospitality and tourism, or technology and digital sectors, we need to deliver these skills at a time of acute skills shortages.
