What we stand for

The Australian Labor Party is Australia's oldest political party. Our history is intertwined with the history of Australia’s democracy labour movement.

Labor has always aimed to, in the words of former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam: "Promote equality, to involve the people of Australia in the decision-making processes of our land, and to liberate the talents and uplift the horizons of the Australian people."

Below you can find out more about our announced policies.

You can also find out more about where Labor Leader Anthony Albanese stands on the key issues on his website.

Labor's national platform is our guiding document containing a clear statement of our vision and values. It is determined by national conferences comprising of the federal and state parliamentary leadership of the Party, together with elected delegates from all states, territories and Australian Young Labor.
