Andrew was elected as Member for Scullin in 2013. He is a strong believer in the value of community and a passionate advocate for Melbourne’s north. Andrew has served as Shadow Assistant Minister for Schools since 2016.
In this role he has focussed on Labor’s policies for students with disability, rural and regional schools and vocational education in high school.
In addition to education, Andrew’s policy interests include cities, the future of work, climate change, immigration and social policy.
He has contributed to public debate, as well as policy formulation on these issues and on improving the health of our democracy.
Prior to his election, Andrew worked as an employment lawyer at Slater & Gordon, where he helped people uphold their rights at work and resolve the issues they face in their workplace.
Andrew lives with his wife Jill, and they are proud parents of two young children - Daniel and Alice.
