Delivered real wage increases for Australian workers. And with our tax cuts, Australians are keeping more of what they earn. Not only have we seen five consecutive pay rises for Australian workers on awards, Labor has delivered pay rises for aged care and early childhood education and care workers. Since Labor was elected, the minimum wage has gone up by more than $12,000 a year.

Guaranteed eligibility for 3 days of subsidised child care a week for children who need it. 

Increased paid parental leave (PPL) to a full six months. Families can share it however works best for them. And we've added superannuation to that PPL, so taking time off to raise a family doesn’t set you back in retirement.

Started the biggest ever housing build, training more tradies, and helping first homebuyers. 

Expanded 5% deposits to all first home buyers with no lenders mortgage and invested $10 billion to build up to 100,000 homes for sale only to first home buyers.

Made the tax system simpler and delivered more cost-of-living relief by introducing a $1,000 instant tax deduction. 

Legislated to protect penalty rates in awards, ensuring the wages of around three million workers do not go backwards, and introduced payday super, so workers start earning returns sooner and reducing the chances super will go unpaid

Made supermarket price gouging illegal, protecting Australian families from artificially inflated prices on their groceries. Passed new laws to crack down on petrol price gouging. And from October, card surcharges will be banned for good, so the price you see is the price you pay.

Delivered the biggest ever reduction in the cost of Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) prescriptions and froze the cost of PBS medicines, making hundreds of medicines cheaper for Australians.  

Cut the maximum cost of a prescription for a PBS medicine to $25. 

Made hundreds of expensive medicines affordable for everyone with new PBS listings covering conditions like breast, prostate and lung cancer. 

Opened 137 bulk billed Medicare Urgent Care Clinics, making it easier for Australians to get the urgent treatment they need, completely free of charge, while taking pressure off our hospitals. 4 in 5 Australians now live within a 20-minute drive from a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic. 

Establishing a network of 92 free Medicare Mental Health Centres, with 55 already open. 

Opened Australia’s first Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinics, establishing 33 clinics across every State and Territory to help Australian women with endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) get the care they need. All 33 clinics will be supported to extend their focus to also provide specialist support for menopause and perimenopause. 

Boosted funding for hospitals by $1.7 billion – delivering more money for public hospitals in every state and territory to improve surgery wait times, reduce crowding in emergency departments, get ambulances back on the road faster, and free up hospital beds. 

Growing the health workforce to deliver more doctors and nurses than ever before, including the largest GP training program in Australian history, and hundreds of scholarships for nurses and midwives to extend their skills and qualifications.

Invested more than $790 million in women’s health, with more choice and better treatment at lower cost, making contraceptives cheaper, and funding more treatments for menopause. We’re helping Australian women suffering from endometriosis and complex gynaecological conditions have access to longer specialist consultations, covered under Medicare.

Free mental health support for Australian parents, thanks to a $16.7 million investment by the Albanese Labor Government to open another eight Perinatal Mental Health Centres around the country.

Funded free therapy from home with our new Medicare Mental Health Check In. No cost. No referral. All covered by Medicare. 

Backed men's health, delivering $11.3 million for Movember to provide men’s health care training to primary health care workers and to develop a campaign to encourage men to visit the doctor, and investing $20.7 million for grassroots initiatives that support men’s mental health and wellbeing in community settings.

Built on our historic investment in Medicare to take pressure off hospitals and make free, urgent care available to all Australians, in every community, with the launch of 1800MEDICARE - a free, nationwide 24/7 health advice line and afterhours GP telehealth service.

Put nurses back into nursing homes, ending a decade of neglect, and announced the biggest reforms to improve aged care in a generation. And now we're building on that with more home care packages, more beds and more choice. If older Australians want to stay at home, we'll help them get the care they need to maintain their independence for longer.

Expanded the Home Guarantee Scheme to help first home buyers into a home of their own, with a 5% deposit and no lenders mortgage insurance. The Albanese Labor Government has now helped more than 250,000 Australians buy a home through the 5% Deposit Scheme. 

Legislated the Build to Rent scheme that will help deliver 80,000 new rentals across the country. All rentals delivered under this scheme must offer 5-year leases, giving Australians more rental security. 

Working with states and territories to make renting fairer, with stronger protections for tenants and the power to make your rental your own. As a result, most states have now banned ‘no grounds’ evictions and put minimum standards in place. 

Increased maximum rates of Commonwealth Rent Assistance by over 50% since coming to Government. This increase has helped nearly one million low-income Australian households pay the rent. 

Started the biggest housing build in Australia’s history, investing $47 billion in housing – 8 times more than the Coalition invested over a whole decade. We're continuing Australia’s biggest ever housing build, 1.2 million homes across the country including 55,000 social and affordable homes through our Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF).  

We’re delivering 55,000 social and affordable rental homes for the Australians that need them most – with 7,000 delivered and almost 23,000 currently in planning and construction. 
Through the HAFF and other programs, we’re delivering housing for vulnerable women, children, key workers and veterans while helping to reduce the social housing waiting list. 

We’re investing a record $1.2 billion into building new crisis and transitional accommodation to ensure that at-risk groups including older women, younger Australians and those fleeing family and domestic violence, have access to safe and stable housing. 

We’re unlocking housing supply by training more tradies through Labor’s free TAFE and $10,000 incentive payments for apprentices in construction, building more infrastructure, investing in prefab and modular housing, and cutting red tape with our planning reforms.   

Extended the 2-year ban on foreign purchases of established residential dwellings, implemented on 1 April 2025, for an additional 2 years and 3 months until 30 June 2029. And we’re cracking down on foreign land banking. 

Investing $10 billion to build up to 100,000 homes reserved only for first home buyers, with no competition from property investors. Funding will support enabling infrastructure, land purchases or construction to get these homes built – near work and family, only for first home buyers. 

Expanded access to 5% deposits to all first homebuyers. The Albanese Labor Government has expanded the Home Guarantee Scheme so that it is open to every Australian looking to buy their first home. There are no caps on how many people can apply and no limit on how much you or your partner can earn. For first home buyers, you’re able to buy an eligible property anywhere in Australia, with a deposit as low as 5%. 

Delivered smaller mortgages for first homebuyers through Labor’s Help to Buy shared equity scheme, with the Commonwealth Government pitching in up to 40% of the upfront cost of your home – making it easier for a first home buyer to purchase a home with a smaller mortgage.

Changed property investor tax breaks to give first home buyers a fair go. At the same time, we're making sure our tax system steers investment into building more homes. That’s why investors will still be able to use negative gearing on newly built homes. 
If you were already negatively gearing, you can keep doing it until your property becomes cash flow positive and you no longer need it.

Protecting threatened species and conserving habitat. We’re cracking down on feral animals and weeds, while protecting an extra 95 million hectares of land and sea. Under Labor, we now protect 52% of our Oceans and have tripled the size of the Macquarie Island Marine Park (the biggest act of environmental conservation anywhere in the world in 2023).

We’re investing $1.2 billion to save the Great Barrier Reef – and we’ve kept it off the World Heritage ‘In Danger’ list as a result.

Bringing back manufacturing, making more things here. Labor is investing in a Future Made in Australia. We’re driving investment in industries such as critical minerals and renewable energy to deliver a new generation of manufacturing jobs.  

Set up the National Reconstruction Fund to invest in local manufacturing. 

Improved working conditions for Australians, having brought in the Right to Disconnect to protect workers from unreasonable after hours contact, made wage theft a criminal offence, and established new rights for casual workers.
